"BAY OF SMOKES"

OR

"BAHIA DE LOS FUMOS",

Was the the original name given to the port town of San Pedro, California, upon its discovery in 1542.

It's origin, mixed with its risqué past during the jazz era lends to the bands unique name. It is compiled of vocalist Susan G. Portillo and a rotating cast of session musicians. They perform jazz classics from the American song book and specialize in sizzling torch songs.

SUSAN G. PORTILLO

00:00 / 04:51

A native of

San Pedro, California, Susan has performed in several venues in Southern California and the San Francisco bay area. Although singing has been a passion since childhood, she recorded her first jazz CD at the age of fifty. Susan has been fortunate to have collaborated with an array of accomplished jazz musicians. Her style has been compared to the sound of Blossom Dearie with the passion of Billie Holiday.
